Streator Cayuga Ridge South Wind Power Project
The Streator Cayuga Ridge South Wind Power Project is a 300 megawatt (MW) wind farm located in Livingston County, IL, approximately five miles south east of the center of Odell, IL. The project consists of 150 wind turbines, and provides important economic benefits to the local community. When the project reached commercial operation in March, 2010, it was the largest wind project in Illinois.
The project creates American jobs and supports the local economy through lease payments to landowners and tax payments to the county. During construction, the on-site workforce averaged 130 people, and peaked at 450. Contractors and crews from all over Illinois helped build this project.
